Biotique Bio Cucumber Pore Tightening Toner Review

Before starting with the review let’s understand what are the benefits of using a toner in our skincare routine.

  • It shrinks pores
  • It restores the skin’s pH balance
  • Refreshes the skin

I always used rosewater as a toner but my new discovered love for Biotique products made me go for this toner.

Let’s find out whether i like this toner as much as i like other Biotique products that i have tried.

Claims:

This refreshing, pore tightening toner is blended with cucumber, coriander, nutgalls, berberry, peppermint oil and the fresh waters found in the foothills of the Himalayas. The Biotique Bio Cucumber Pore Tightening Toner is formulated to bring the complexion into perfect pH balance and helps keep skin in its purest state.

  • It tightens the pores and reduces its appearance
  • Softens and smoothen skin texture, giving a youthful radiance
  • It is suitable for normal to oily skin types
  • Organically Pure & preservative free
  • Dermatologist tested for safety, no animal testing

Ingredients:

Daruhaldi (Berberis aristata), Dhania (coriandrum sativum), Majuphal (Quercus infectoria), Pudina (Mentha arvensis), Kheera (Cucumis sativus) Q.S.

Price: Rs. 175 for 120ml

Packaging:

The product comes in a white translucent plastic bottle with a green screw open cap. It has a nozzle on top to dispense the product. The nozzle is quite wide and often you might end up pouring more product than actually required. All the important stuff like ingredient list, expiry date, directions for usage are written on the bottle itself.

Consistency and color: The toner is of a light green color. It has a very strong astringent scent which i am not a big fan off. I would prefer a subtle soothing fragrance over this strong spirit like smell.

My Experience with ‘Biotique Bio Cucumber Toner’:

I use it everyday in my night CTM routine. I first remove all my makeup using a makeup remover. Then wash my face with a face wash followed by applying this toner. I leave it on my skin for some time and then apply my night cream/ serum. As soon as I apply it, I feel a slight cooling effect. I have a dry skin and this does not feel drying or stretchy on my face at all. I don’t have large pores on my face so i cannot talk about the pour tightening aspect.

Overall i can say it is good affordable toner if you are not specifically looking for pore tightening aspect.

Summary:

Pros

  • All natural ingredients
  • Soothing/ cooling effect on skin (refreshes skin)
  • Didn’t cause any breakouts
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Strong smell
  • Not sure about the pore tightening aspect

I hope this review was helpful for you.

Until next time, Keep loving yourself!

MCaffeine Uplift Trance Caffeine Face Cream Review

Recently I was seeing a lot of hype about this brand ‘MCaffeine’ in the beauty community and i decided to give it a shot.

MCaffeine is India’s first caffeine infused personal care brand and that is what intrigued me even more.

Caffeine is not only a mind booster but it also has great benefits for improving your skin and hair. How? Here are some ways:

  • Fights free radicals
  • Soothes inflammation
  • Reduces under eye dark circles
  • Repairs UV damage
  • Treatment for hairloss
  • Stimulates hair growth

To test out i picked up the ‘MCaffeine Uplift Trance Caffeine Face Cream’. Did it live upto my expectations? Keep reading to find out.

What the brand claims:

  • Moisturizing face cream to hydrate your face all day long.
  • The cream fights free radicals to give that everlasting fresh glow to your face.
  • Invigorating green apple fragrance.
  • Paraben free. Not tested on animals.

Price: Rs. 349 for 50ml (Available only in one size)

Buy it from Nykaa.com

or mcaffeine.com

Ingredients:

Vitamin E, Argan Oil, Caffeine, Licorice extract, Calendula extract, Sea weed, Glycerine, Cream base, Aqua, Approved preservatives/fragrance/color.

Packaging:

The product comes in a transparent glass tub with silver screw open cap. It is packed inside a deep pink cardboard box along with a small wooden spatula.

Texture:

It is a white coloured cream. The consistency is neither too thin nor too thick.

Fragrance:

The fragrance is quite mild and refreshing although it is far away from the claimed green apple fragrance.

My Experience with ‘MCaffeine Uplift Trance Caffeine Face Cream’:

I am not a big fan of this packaging. First because it is a tub which is pretty unhygienic to use. I always prefer tube or a pump over tub Packaging. I agree that they have put in some thoughts into this aspect and provided a wooden spatula to scoop out the product but that’s not the most convenient option as per me.

Secondly, because it is glass tub, i always have a fear of it slipping from my hands. Also, because it is glass it feels a bit bulky and definitely not the best option to travel with.

I use this cream every morning. It gets absorbed in the skin immediately leaving it soft and smooth. It is lightweight and feels almost like a gel on the skin. I love the fragrance as it is very refreshing and subtle. However it does not stay for long.

It mattifies the face and does not feel greasy at all. I have dry skin but not extremely dry, so throughout the day too my face doesn’t feel oily or shiny. I usually apply a BB cream on daily basis on top of this cream and i have noticed that it helps my BB cream to stick to my face better.

Overall, i like this cream as a daily lightweight day cream and would definitely recommend it to all skin types.

Note: if a product suits someone it will not necessarily suit you as well. Hence It is advisable to always do a patch test before using a product.

Summary:

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Gets absorbed quickly
  • Contains ingredients like caffeine, Vitamin E and Argan Oil which are great for skin
  • Refreshing Fragrance

Cons

  • Inconvenient glass packaging
  • Unhygienic tub packaging
  • Not travel friendly

I hope this review was helpful.

Maybelline New York Volume Express Hyper Curl Mascara Review

I am a huge fan of Maybelline Mascaras. Well, who isn’t? Maybelline makes some of the best Mascaras in the market. The Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara and Falsies Push up Drama Mascara are my all time favourites.

This time i wanted to explore few more options from Maybelline and this one instantly caught my eyes for the number of reviews it has on Nykaa.

I use it on an everyday basis and i hope my experience with this Mascara would help you if you are planning to buy this one or looking out for an affordable Mascara.

Packaging:

This Mascara comes in a chubby tube which is black with rose gold cap. The applicator wand is attached to the cap. The packaging looks quite attractive due to the color coordination. Even though it is slightly chubby, it is quite lightweight which makes it very travel friendly.

Price: Rs. 325 for 9.2ml

Buy it here.

Applicator:

The applicator is fat and slightly curved. The bristles on it are very densely placed. The curve on the wand helps in curling the eyelashes. I don’t use an eyelash curler and it holds up the curls on my lashes for quite a long time. However, the fat wand makes it difficult to apply it in the inner and lower lashes.

My Experience:

This Mascara is available in both Washable and Waterproof version. I opted for Waterproof version as i want my Mascara to be long lasting. The shade is very black but not unnatural in any way. It coats the lashes pretty well and evenly. I use an oil based makeup remover and it comes off easily.

I wear this Mascara everyday to office. I usually apply one coat and it gives some definition and color to the eyelashes which is perfect for everyday. For days when i want my lashes to look a bit more voluminous, i apply a couple of coats. The formula of this Mascara is quite thick and drying so when you are applying multiple coats you need to work pretty fast else the lashes might end up looking clumpy. In all, I would say this Mascara gives Volume, length and curl but nothing too dramatically. I am pretty impressed with the staying power as it stays on for the whole day.

Summary:

Pros

  • Beautiful and Travel friendly packaging
  • Affordable
  • Curls, Voluminizes and Lengthens
  • Staying power is good
  • Shade looks natural
  • Good for Daily wear

Cons

  • Fat Wand makes application difficult in inner and bottom lashes

Final Verdict:

I like this Mascara for daily wear. It just gives the right amount of curl, volume and length which is not over the top.

I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a good affordable daily wear Mascara.

Biotique Bio Fruit Whitening and Depigmentation Face Pack Review

I am a sucker for ready made face packs and i blame my busy schedule for that. ‘Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Pack’ has been my favourite for the longest time. You will find it in my vanity at any given point.

Just like Himalaya, Biotique is a brand known for their herbal and chemical free products and who would not want to include herbal products in their routine.

Well recently I decided to test out some of their products and this face pack was one of those.

Packaging:

It comes in a regular white plastic tub with green screw open cap and a plastic lid in the middle to avoid spillage. I would have personally preferred a tube packaging as it is convenient to use and way more hygienic.

Ingredients:

Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth), Geru (Garric), Yasad hhasma (Yasad bhasma), Tamator (Lycopersicum esculentum), Ananas (Ananas comosus), Kikargaund (Acacia Arabica), Paste base Q.S

Price: Rs.199 for 75 gm

Buy it here.

My Experience:

I have dry skin and absolutely hate face packs which feel stretchy and make my skin feel parched. I have been using this face pack from quite some time and it definitely doesn’t fall into that category. This face pack claims to lighten and whiten the complexion and reduce pigmentation. I do not care about the lightening and whitening part, but yes reducing pigmentation is what i am looking for and little bit of brightening wont harm either.

The face pack is quite creamy and spreads easily on the face. It is of a pretty pink color and has a strong fruity smell. Nothing that bothers me. It does not take long to dry and dries within 15-20 minutes. And as i mentioned earlier it doesn’t feel stretchy or uncomfortable even when it is completely dry. I feel a slight tingling sensation after i apply it but it goes away soon and is not at all bothersome.

Immediately after washing the skin feels refreshed, soft and slightly brighter. I haven’t seen any drastic change in the acne marks or de-pigmentation on certain areas of my face but every skincare product needs to be given fair amount of time and regular use to show its results.

Summary:

Pros

  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Ayurvedic
  • No parabens or other chemicals
  • Does not dry out the skin
  • Makes skin softer and brighter
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Unhygienic tub packaging

Do i recommend it?

Yes! I really liked this face pack. If you are looking for a something which is natural, affordable and gives you that brightness your skin needs after a tiring day, this should be your pick. Give it enough time and it might even work to reduce your pigmentation.
